Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2022-2023 at the University of Angers

The Eiffel scholarship programme is a tool developed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Campus France) to enable French higher education institutions to attract the best foreign students for master's and doctoral degree courses.
Fields of study
The two main fields of study concerned by the Eiffel scholarships are
- science and technology :
- biology and health
- ecological transition
- mathematics and digital technology
- engineering sciences.
- humanities and social sciences :
- history, French language and civilisation
- law, political science
- economics and management.
Eligibility criteria
- Doctoral scholarship: foreign doctoral student under 30 years of age, co-supervision or co-direction, any field of study. Must be a first-time applicant (cannot be combined with another French government scholarship).
- Master's level grant: foreign student under 25 years of age in a Master's or Engineering course. You must be applying for the first time (cannot be combined with another French government scholarship).

Duration of the scholarship
- Doctorate component: the Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 12 months.
- Master's programme: the Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a period of :
- 12 months maximum for enrolment in a Master 2 programme
- 24 months maximum for enrolment in a Master 1 programme
- 36 months for the preparation of an engineering degree
Amount of the scholarship
- Doctorate level: monthly allowance of €1,700
- Master's level: monthly allowance of €1,181.
How to apply?
- Check your eligibility by reading the Campus France Vademecum.
- Select your course:
- For the Master's level, choose a course offered at the University of Angers (contact the International Relations (IR) department of the component concerned).
- For the PhD programme, you must be a co-supervisor or co-director and provide the co-supervision agreement or a certificate of co-supervision signed by the French and foreign parties.
- The application form must be translated into French.
- Request the application form from (gestion-recherche@listes.univ-angers.fr) / submit it before 15 November 2021.
For the Master's programme, the application file must contain:
- Letter of motivation from the candidate
- Curriculum vitae
- Copy of the transcripts since the entry in the Higher Education
- Academic ranking from the previous year: This document is compulsory to apply for the Eiffel scholarship as it is a scholarship of excellence. The jury therefore needs to know the student's ranking within his or her class. If your university does not systematically issue this document, you must ask the head of your course for a signed certificate mentioning your ranking.
- Letter of recommendation
For the PhD programme, the application file must contain:
- A presentation of the thesis project and research progress, written in French or English (1 to 5 pages)
- Certificate of co-direction / co-supervision of the thesis
- Letter of motivation from the candidate
- Curriculum vitae
- Copy of transcripts since entering Higher Education
- Academic ranking from the previous year: This document is compulsory to apply for the Eiffel scholarship as it is a scholarship of excellence. The jury therefore needs to know the student's ranking within his or her class. If your university does not systematically issue this document, you must ask the head of your course for a signed certificate mentioning your ranking.
